Marietta Reuter receives 2025 SCIL Leadership Award

Every year the SCIL Board solicits internal nominations for the SCIL Leadership Award for individuals or organizations who exemplify leadership in the county. The recipient of the 2025 SCIL Leadership Award is Marietta Reuter from Sauk-Prairie. Marietta is a quiet pillar in the Sauk Prairie community and her fingerprints are on many projects that have served many people in that community for decades.

As her friend and (community all-star) colleague Fritz Wyttenbach told Morgan, “People have no idea how much Marietta has done for the community.”

Marietta has a dairy farm work ethic. She was the ninth of eleven kids in her family. Having to compete with a bunch of brothers for attention, resources and a fair opportunity turned her into a self-labeled Tomboy. This feature of her upbringing has touched every aspect of her life.

Marietta’s business, Tools of Marketing (acronym TOM, for Tomboy), was started in a spare room of her house in 1995. It’s a promotional products/marketing company. Today TOM is in a building of over 25,000 square feet, has 38 fulltime employees and 92 employees in total.

She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader for nearly 20 years. She’s been an active ambassador for the Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce and she leads the Ambassadors Committee. She’s also been on the Chamber Board for 11.5 years. Marietta has chaired the very popular Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw & Festival for over 25 years.

With all of those achievements and contributions, the gem in her crown is the vision and realization of Culver Community Park (CCP). Marietta felt strongly that the community needed an expansion of recreational spaces and with passion, time and persistence, she has mobilized the community to raise over $15 million dollars to buy the land and build this spectacular recreational complex. CCP will benefit the residents of the Sauk-Prairie area for generations to come.

Marietta’s drive is coupled to an uncommon humility which makes her leadership even more impressive. She cares deeply about people and her community and is an inspiring example of how each of us can make a difference where we are and where we live.
