Did you know that…

SCIL partners with UW Extension?

Morgan McArthur, SCIL, and UW Extension

I went through the SCIL program in 2013/2014 and joined Extension in 2017. I had an ongoing relationship with SCIL for several years and stepped up to co-facilitate with Jenny Erickson in ~2019. I took sole responsibility as facilitator in January of 2022.

Here’s How…

SCIL was the brainchild of Extension Educator Greg Wise back in 1997. The program was the pioneer county leadership program and it was modeled after the then-Rural Leadership Program.  Extension has always been at the core of the program as far as planning and executing the program.

  • SCIL is not part of Extension, however. We are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit and technically Extension is a partner of the program. I can't tell you exactly when that status was achieved but it was long before my time.

    • Long history, which provides for consistency and dedication to programming

    • Second, education is our wheelhouse.

    • Third, our programming is the core of SCIL. With this, SCIL has the flexibility to change presenters as needed because of the connections we have established.

  • Among all of the things I do, “SCIL remains my passion and where I do my best work. I have to be a consistent communicator to my bosses - at UW and at Sauk County - about the value that SCIL adds to the community.” ~ Morgan McArthur
