2021/2022 Sauk County Institute of Leadership welcomed 18 leaders from diverse backgrounds from all areas of Sauk County.

BARABOO, WI: This past week 18 leaders from across Sauk County were welcomed to Durward’s Glen Retreat Center at W11876 McLeish Rd, Baraboo, WI to kick off the 2021/2022 season of SCIL (Sauk County Institute of Leadership).  The leaders were greeted and hosted by Jenny Erickson and Morgan McArthur on day one in which they both spoke and opened the program with the topics of; "What is a Leader?", "Building a Foundation for Fun", and "Seeing Yourself and Others in a New Way". The 18 leaders had the pleasure of learning "Tips for Writing an Effective Press Release" from guest speaker, Jason Cuevas of Capital Newspapers. They were tested with multiple teamwork and leadership challenges the army way by Sergeant FC Rocco Sylvester, WI National Guard.  A wonderful lunch by QDOBA was provided and dinner was a teamwork effort by the 18 leaders followed by an evening around the bonfire.

Day two the leaders were visited and gifted with reflection on learning by alumni Julia Randles and Cheryl Goeckerman whom graduated from the SCIL program in 2019, followed by a discussion on "Management versus Leadership" by Jenny Erickson. A wonderful lunch was prepared by Amber Giddings. After two days of taking a deeper dive into leadership skills and challenges the event closed with guest speaker Cliff Thompson who delivered an impactful speech on what it means to be a leader every day in every way.

The SCIL program is a 9 month program where these 18 leaders will meet in various places around Sauk County to build their leadership skills and make a positive impact on the community by discussing previous, current and future issues happening around the area.
