Sauk County Businesses Invest in Tomorrow’s Leaders

Almost 20 Sauk County residents came together for the first time at Durward’s Glen last week for a framing exercise that sets the building blocks for the 2022-23 Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) cohort. This two-day retreat incorporated a reflective environment, leadership education, and intensive teamwork that sets the stage for the next 9 months of learning. Retired Superintendent of the Sauk Prairie Public Schools, Cliff Thompson, led one of the many sessions spread out over the course of the two day retreat. He reminded the cohort:

“All leaders are teachers becoming leaders.”

Team members will meet monthly through May of 2023 focusing on such topics as authentic leadership, diversity, emotional intelligence, economic development, local government and much more. These sessions will engage participants in learning how to think outside the box on complex issues such as education, healthcare, poverty, and more, as well as how each issue affects Sauk County and its residents.
