December Session Recap
The Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) continued its 2021-22 class on December 9 with an all-day session focusing on the importance of authenticity in leadership and how adverse life events form and shape leaders.
Participants shared stories about difficult experiences with one another and explored how these have formed them into leaders.
They also welcomed two guest speakers sharing about leadership and authenticity: Karen DeSanto, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Wisconsin, who shared the story of how she ran away from politics to join the circus and then ended up as the chairperson of the Baraboo charity; and Jessica Beckendorf, Program Coordinator of UW-Extension of Waushara County, who ran a theatrical improvisation workshop to give participants tools to better engage team members in shared work. creativity.
SCIL’s monthly sessions take place throughout Sauk County as a means of introducing both established and emerging leaders to county-wide community issues; their Dec. 9 session was held at the Sauk Prairie School District’s administration building.
This year’s class features 18 participants who live and/or work in Sauk County, and is led by Morgan McArthur of the Sauk County office of UW-Extension.
