Project  Focus

Provide a concise list of contacts/resources to people experiencing homelessness and other poverty related issues in the Baraboo area.

Project Description

Homelessness and poverty are serious issues in our community. With the loss of the shelter, it is particularly critical to make resources known and available to those that need them.  In my work at the library I encounter people on an almost daily basis who can benefit from these resources. It is helpful to be able to hand them a single sheet with information on a variety of resources that may be applicable to them, with a focus on locally available resources.

Project Results

Have complted the resource list and have made it available to people in the community.  I have personally given the list to several people who shared with me that they were experiencing homelessness.

Project Focus

Our project is the establishment of an after hours bus route for students to receive a ride home from the Baraboo Area Boys and Girls Club. The bus route is intended to serve students that live outside of a 1.5 miles radius of the Club faiclity, and have an interest to become involved with the Club. The route will have 4 drop off locations established outside of the 1.5 mile radius of the Club, and will run nightly. This project is in the very early stages and will not be ready for implementation for months to come.

Project Description

It is important because hungry children was a reoccurring theme throughout this program; and if sauk county has a significant number of children going to sleep hungry and an establishment intended to serve these children, it seemed intuitive to try to establish a system to deliver more of these hungry children to an establishment intended to serve them.

Project Results

At this time, the project team has reached out to the Boys and Girls Club to solicit data regarding the area currently being served, met with the Baraboo School District Superintendent to discuss the possibility of a partnership with the School District and the Club, and developed a project plan.

No One Dies Alone is a program I am bringing to Sauk Prairie Healthcare where volunteers will act as "Compassionate Companions" providing a reassuring presence at the bedside of a dying patient who would otherwise be alone.

Project Description

Dying is a sacred time of life, and the NODA program is designed to provide peace to family members who may not be able to be present when a loved one is dying, and to provide exceptional care to the patients and families in the communities that Sauk Prairie Healthcare serves.

Project Results

Program details are finished.  Recruiting to begin, starting with current SPH employees and volunteers with three months service.

Project Focus

Create a podcast featuring local leaders doing good in the community.

Project Description

As someone going through SCIL one of the things that struck me was how many good organizations and people we were learning from each month. My goal was to help them promote and tell their story, to share the good things that their organization is doing with those not attending SCIL.

Project Results

At this point, I have recorded and edited 3 podcasts. Still working on the distribution component of the podcast..
